G2 Risk Facilitator

Course Overview

The G2 Risk Facilitator course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to facilitate, implement and review formal risk management processes within the Queensland mining and resources industry.

This nationally recognised course equips supervisors, Open Cut Examiners (OCEs), deputies, safety professionals and other personnel responsible for leading risk assessments with the skills to identify hazards, assess risk, implement effective controls and monitor the effectiveness of risk management systems.

Successful completion of this course assists participants in meeting industry and site requirements for facilitating formal risk assessments in accordance with Queensland mining legislation and recognised industry standards.

Unit of Competency

Participants will complete the following nationally recognised unit:

  • RIIRIS402E – Carry out the risk management process

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Apply formal risk management methodologies.

  • Facilitate structured workplace risk assessments.

  • Identify hazards and evaluate associated risks.

  • Determine appropriate risk control measures using the hierarchy of controls.

  • Review and monitor the effectiveness of implemented controls.

  • Conduct risk management audits and reviews.

  • Maintain risk registers and associated documentation.

  • Communicate risk management outcomes with work teams and stakeholders.

Prerequisites

There are no formal training package prerequisites for this unit. However, participants should:

  • Have experience working within the resources or infrastructure industry.

  • Possess sound literacy and communication skills.

  • Have access to a computer with a reliable internet connection.

  • Be able to complete online assessments and workplace-based activities where required.

Method of Delivery

100% Online – Self-Paced

This course is delivered entirely online, allowing participants to complete the training at their own pace from any location. Learners receive access to digital learning resources, assessments and trainer support throughout the course.

Assessment

Assessment methods may include:

  • Online knowledge assessments

  • Case studies

  • Scenario-based activities

  • Risk assessment exercises

  • Practical workplace evidence (where applicable)

  • Verbal questioning where required

Certification

Participants deemed competent will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

  • RIIRIS402E – Carry out the risk management process

Industry Recognition

The G2 (RIIRIS402E) competency is widely recognised across Queensland's coal and metalliferous mining industries. It is a statutory requirement for certain appointed positions, such as Open Cut Examiners, and many mining companies also require supervisors to hold this competency as part of their internal safety management systems.
